Egg-in-a-hole Recipe

It was just one of those cold days and I was thinking what I wanted to have for breakfast. I was looking for something new to make for breakfast since I didn’t want to have the normal meal. Searching I stumbled upon Egg-in-a-hole. This recipe has varying names from Egg-in-a-hole, Frog-in-a-hole, Toad-in-a-hole, Pop Eyes, Bird’s nest Egg, Egg Basket among other names. This is recipe is great because it is simple and made with very few ingredients. So I decided to try it out and I must say first time, and it turned out great. So let’s do this!

1 slice of bread

1 tablespoon butter/margarine

1 egg

Pepper/spice of your choice

Place you slice of bread on a cutting/chopping board

With a biscuit cutter or the rim of a glass, press a hole in the center of the slice of bread.

Heat a skillet over medium-low heat and melt in the butter.

When the butter is all spread out, place the piece of bread in the skillet and crack the egg straight into the center of the hole.

Cook until the egg sets a bit on the bottom, 30 to 45 seconds.Sprinkle the egg with salt and pepper.

After about a minute, flip it over with a spatula and salt and pepper the other side.

Let it cook until the yolk feels soft. If you do not want a runny egg-in-a-hole let it cook for longer so that the yolk sets.
